Power source

Record battery type, charging method and reach. If existing power is available, confirm location and compatibility. Electrical work is a separate scope unless written otherwise.

Motor access

A concealed motor still needs future service access. Avoid millwork, trim or furniture details that make charging or removal impractical.

Control fallback

Keep an intuitive physical remote or wall control even when app and voice operation are planned.

Groups and scenes

Define room groups, facade groups and all-open or all-close behavior before programming.

Network and hub

Confirm the intended smart-home ecosystem, compatible hub or border router and reliable local network coverage.

Client ownership

Set up the system under the client's intended account and document basic operation, charging and support contacts.

When a project has exposed framing, electrical planning or custom pockets, shade decisions should happen before the openings are finished. The useful information includes pocket dimensions, bracket surface, power location, wire path, access panel, fascia condition and the finished plane of adjacent trim.

Motorization FAQ

Can every shade style be motorized?

Many roller, zebra, cellular, Roman, layered sheer, dual roller and drapery systems have motorized configurations. Exact availability depends on finished dimensions, fabric weight, headrail and supplier limits.

Is Matter the same as the motor?

No. Matter is a smart-home interoperability standard. A compatible bridge or hub may connect the shade system to a Matter ecosystem. Motor, radio protocol, hub and client platform must be checked as a complete chain.

Will the shades still work if the internet is down?

A compatible physical remote should still provide local control. App, remote-access and voice behavior can depend on the hub, network and platform. The fallback should be confirmed during setup.

Who programs the shades?

The agreed Blinds100 scope can include pairing, room groups and compatible smart setup. Advanced whole-home programming or work inside another integrator's system must be identified separately.

How should motorized shades be shown on the finish schedule?

List room, opening, shade type, fabric, motor, power, control, group, mount, fascia or headrail color and smart-platform requirement. Add notes for charging and future service access.

Resolve the motor plan before the client approves.
